GILI NANGGU

"This morning after lunch left for a coral walk. We drove a van to a small harbor of fishing boats. Here we boarded a boat and sailed to the island of Gili Nanggu. Before we got on the boat we got a mask, snorkel and flippers I got a pair of flippers, which I did not fit afterwards. After about 10 minutes sailing we were on the island, which has a white sandy beach. After we put on our swimsuits we went snorkeling. I was glad that I had brought water shoes from the Netherlands, because I do not know my shoe size here Once in the water, the snorkeling turned out pretty good. The mask did not fit completely, causing some water to leak. The tips, about how to breathe when snorkeling, that we had had at a Bali airport in Bali, worked very well."

There is also a possibility to sail from Taun to Nanggu for a lower price, but this place is further away. Yes can sail to Nanggu almost at any time of the day, from early in the morning until sunset. On the white sandy beach with calm waves, you are assured of privacy - no beach traders or unwanted visitors. This island is private and is only inhabited by the management and staff of the resort. On the island there are ten small 'cabins' with wooden floors and seven bungalows. The prices for an overnight stay vary between 18 and 25 euros per night, including breakfast. Although the 'cabins' are cheaper, they are closer to the sea. The upstairs bedroom has large windows that open and you have a beautiful view over the crystal clear sea. Each cabin is equipped with a mosquito net and a fan. Some of the bungalows have a living room. The bungalows are a bit off the beach, but you can still go to the beach via a path.

The simple bungalows are on an elevated platform, the rooms of which are air-conditioned. There is also a private bathroom. The resort has a restaurant serving local and European meals. You can get grilled fish, freshly supplied by fishermen One of the most intriguing elements of this small resort is the conservation program, which is set up for loggerhead turtles (sea turtles), locally known as penyu sisak. The turtle is one of the seven species of sea turtles that are in the world. The program for the protection of sea turtles at Gili Nanggu has been around since 1995.
Gili Nanggu is a beautiful destination all year round, but it is best to avoid school holidays and Islamic holidays because it is much busier than usual. Making a reservation is desirable. The busy season lasts from June to August.
